Indonesia weather: BMKG warns of rain and high temperatures

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued various weather forecasts across Indonesia for early September 2026. Atmospheric dynamics, including wind convergence and confluence in several maritime areas such as the Indian Ocean, Malacca Strait, and South China Sea, are expected to increase rain cloud formation. This may lead to moderate to heavy rainfall in several regions.

Regional forecasts indicate diverse conditions. In East Java, most areas are expected to be sunny, with Banyuwangi being the only district predicted to see light rain. In the Jabodetabek area, weather is expected to range from partly cloudy to thick clouds with temperatures reaching 34 degrees Celsius. In South Sulawesi, residents are warned of potential strong winds and high temperatures reaching 37 degrees Celsius, alongside light rain in specific districts.

Other regional updates include cloudy conditions in Yogyakarta with temperatures up to 33 degrees Celsius, and varying conditions in the Malang Raya area, including reports of hazy air in certain districts.
