Indonesia welcomes return of over 129,000 Hajj pilgrims

The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reported that by 20 June 2026, 62 percent of the country's Hajj pilgrims had arrived back, bringing the total number of returning pilgrims and staff to 129,025. The arrivals comprised 127,709 pilgrims and 1,316 accompanying officials across 329 flight groups that departed from King Abdul‑Aziz International Airport in Jeddah and Imam Muhammad bin Abdul‑Aziz Airport in Medina. Spokesperson Maria Assegaff highlighted the need to translate the values learned during the pilgrimage—patience, discipline, solidarity and generosity—into everyday life and praised the pilgrims’ compliance with baggage regulations, including the prohibition on transporting Zamzam water in luggage.

In the province of Riau, 4,681 pilgrims had returned, while six remained in Saudi Arabia for medical care or to complete their assignments. The Ministry stressed continued vigilance over travel documents and urged pilgrims to follow official guidance until they reach their hometowns.
