Rahmat Erwin Abdullah wins Asian Games gold with two world records

Indonesia has achieved significant success at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. In weightlifting, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah secured the gold medal in the men's 75 kg category, setting two new world records with a total lift of 366 kg and a clean and jerk of 206 kg. His achievement was personally acknowledged by President Prabowo Subianto via video call.

In badminton, the Indonesian men's team captured the gold medal after a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against China. Key contributors included Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah, who won the decisive fifth match, and Alwi Farhan, who secured a semifinal spot by defeating Chou Tien-Chen. Other Indonesian badminton representatives, including Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, have also advanced to the semifinals.

Other notable results include silver medals in rowing won by M. Ali Mardiansyah and La Memo, and bronze medals in cycling by Feri Yudoyono and Sayu Bella Sukma Dewi. However, weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah was forced to miss the games following a Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision to uphold a provisional suspension regarding whereabouts reporting.
