Indonesian and French air forces conduct Misi Pegase 2026 exercises

The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and the French Air and Space Force are conducting joint military exercises as part of Misi Pegase 2026 at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta.

For the first time, Indonesian paratroopers from the Pasgat I Parako Brigade performed static jumps from an Airbus A400M transport aircraft. Previously, Indonesian jumps were limited to Hercules and CN aircraft. The exercise included flight maneuvers and flypasts involving both Indonesian and French A400M aircraft.

The French contingent includes four Rafale fighter jets, two Airbus A400M transport planes, and three Airbus A330 MRTT tankers. Major General Julien Sabene, commander of Misi Pegase 2026, stated that Indonesia was selected as a stopover because France views the nation as a strategic partner and a central actor in the Indo-Pacific region. The mission, which involves approximately 270 aviators, spans from September 8 to October 15, 2026.
