Overview

Indonesia has engaged in multiple joint military air exercises with international partners in September 2026.

From September 7 to 11, the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) and the United States Air Force completed the 13th iteration of the Cope West exercise in Manado. The training focused on tactical airlift cooperation, base security, operational maintenance, and aerial medical evacuation.

Beginning September 8, the Indonesian Air Force also commenced Misi Pegase 2026 with the French Air and Space Force at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta. This exercise involves approximately 270 aviators and includes French Rafale fighter jets and Airbus A400M transport aircraft. For the first time, Indonesian paratroopers performed static jumps from an Airbus A400M. Major General Julien Sabene noted that Indonesia was selected for this mission as France views the nation as a ‘strategic partner and a central actor in the Indo-Pacific region.’
