Indonesian cities expand Car Free Day programs for health and economy
Local governments in Indonesia are revitalizing public spaces through Car Free Day (CFD) initiatives. In Bogor, the city government has officially resumed CFD activities on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman every weekend from 06:00 to 09:00 WIB to provide a healthy and safe public space for exercise and social interaction.
In South Tangerang, Mayor Benyamin Davnie is proposing the expansion of these programs into a Car Free Night (CFN) concept. While still under discussion due to traffic management considerations, the initiative aims to further stimulate the local economy and tourism. The current monthly CFD events in BSD, Serpong, already support approximately 250 micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) through free bazaar participation.
