Indonesian companies launch mangrove planting initiatives

Several Indonesian corporations have launched mangrove planting initiatives to support coastal ecosystem resilience and climate change mitigation.

Telkom Indonesia (TelkomGroup) planted 20,000 mangrove seedlings in two coastal regions: Kedungmalang Village in Jepara, Central Java, and Golo Sepang Village in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara. This initiative is part of the company’s ‘GoZero% – Sustainability Action’ program, specifically under the ‘Save Our Planet’ pillar, aimed at reducing abrasion risks and carbon emissions.

In West Java, Unicharm Indonesia partnered with the Karawang Regency Environmental, Cleanliness, and Hygiene Office (DLHK) to plant 1,000 mangrove seedlings at Jaya Bahari Beach in Karawang. The project addresses significant coastal abrasion issues in the region. Unicharm Indonesia stated that the growth of the seedlings will be monitored periodically to ensure optimal survival rates.
