Destry Damayanti proposed as sole candidate for Bank Indonesia Governor
President Prabowo Subianto has officially submitted a Presidential Letter (Surpres) to the House of Representatives (DPR RI) proposing Destry Damayanti as the sole candidate for the definitive Governor of Bank Indonesia. Damayanti, who currently serves as the Acting Governor following the departure of Perry Warjiyo, is the single name presented by the administration.
In addition to the central bank leadership, the government has also proposed candidates for several other key positions via presidential letters. These include replacements for the Senior Deputy Governor and Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, as well as candidates for the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and various Indonesian Ambassadors.
Members of the DPR Commission XI have emphasized that the incoming Governor must possess high integrity, a proven track record, and the ability to maintain central bank independence while effectively communicating monetary policy to maintain market confidence during global economic uncertainty.
