Indonesian environmental agencies launch conservation initiatives

Environmental agencies in Indonesia are implementing various conservation and education initiatives. In North Sulawesi, the Provincial Environmental Agency, in collaboration with the Bolaang Mongondow Environmental Agency and the community of Ambang II Village, planted 500 mangrove seedlings along the coast of Ambang II Beach. This activity, part of the Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Program, also serves to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of North Sulawesi Province. Officials noted that the mangroves act as a natural barrier against abrasion and represent a long-term investment in the coastal ecosystem.

In Lampung, the Provincial Environmental Agency has set a target to have 160 high schools (SMA, SMK, and MA) achieve Adiwiyata status between 2026 and 2030. The Adiwiyata program aims to improve environmental quality in schools by fostering eco-friendly behaviors, including waste management, biodiversity conservation, and water and energy efficiency. Currently, 54 schools in Lampung have registered for the program, which utilizes a digital integration system for proposals and assessments.
