Indonesian local governments pause 2026 CPNS recruitment and PPPK hiring
The Cianjur regency in West Java announced it will not submit any proposals for new CPNS (civil servant) or PPPK (government contract) positions for 2026, despite 543 civil servants reaching retirement age. The regional personnel agency cited limited fiscal capacity as the reason for withholding recruitment, leaving vacancies in education, health and operational roles.
Meanwhile, the city of Bengkulu introduced a programme to improve welfare for its PPPK staff, including a pension scheme, death‑insurance coverage and integration with BPJS health insurance. The mayor said the measures aim to give PPPK employees protection comparable to that of regular civil servants (PNS).
