Indonesian ministers launch Gentengisasi program and inspect housing aid
Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait and Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian have launched the first phase of the ‘Gentengisasi’ program in Plered, West Java. The initial shipment included 500,000 roof tiles transported via 125 trucks. A second phase is scheduled for November 2026, involving 400,000 tiles and 600 trucks.
The program aims to empower local MSMEs in Plered and Majalengka by helping them meet Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and create jobs for logistics workers. Additionally, the ministers inspected the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) program, also known as the ‘bedah rumah’ (house renovation) program, in Purwakarta to ensure aid reaches the intended recipients.
Minister Sirait emphasized the importance of strict field verification to prevent aid from being misdirected to middle- or high-income households. The inspections focused on identifying homes with structural issues, such as fragile roof frames and damaged walls, to ensure the government's priority programs under President Prabowo Subianto are implemented effectively.
