Indonesia updates ASN discipline and teacher employment status

The Padang City Government has implemented stricter discipline regulations for civil servants (ASN). Under a new circular letter, employees are required to remain at their designated workstations during working hours. Secretary Raju Minropa noted that administrative attendance via presence systems does not automatically prove task completion. Violations, such as manipulating attendance or conducting personal business during work hours, may result in sanctions ranging from warnings to cuts in additional employee income (TPP).

On a national level, the government is preparing to transition part-time PPPK teachers to full-time status starting in 2027. This policy aims to provide career certainty and improved welfare for educators without requiring re-testing. Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti emphasized that this move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen teacher competence and professional development.

Additionally, civil servants in South Sumatra may benefit from an increased quota of 3,000 subsidized housing units following a proposal by Governor Herman Deru to the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas.
