Indonesian Police Arrest Motorbike Theft Suspects in Bangkalan and Karawaci

Police in Bangkalan, East Java, captured two suspects, identified as FAW (16) from Sidoarjo and HP (25) from Tulungagung, after they stole a Honda Vario 125 belonging to a police officer at a fuel station on 2 August 2026. The pair had carried out 11 thefts across Bangkalan, Surabaya and Sidoarjo, using a T‑shaped key to break ignition locks. The stolen motorcycle was seized and the suspects were charged under Article 477 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, facing up to five years in prison.

In Karawaci, Tangerang, police arrested suspect JS (35) and a middleman RE (40) following a theft reported on 4 August 2026 at a barbershop. A third suspect, Suhendar (32), remains at large. Two stolen Honda Beat motorcycles and related clothing were seized. Both JS and RE were also charged under Article 477, with a possible maximum sentence of seven years. Authorities said investigations continue to uncover any wider theft network.
