Indonesian police seize stolen motorcycles and crack multiple crime cases
Police units across Indonesia have conducted a series of operations targeting vehicle theft and other crimes. In Surabaya, officers from the Reskrim unit arrested a married couple, identified as RAF (27) and SAWN (23), after linking them to a series of motorcycle thefts including a Honda Genio taken from a student from West Lombok. The suspects had previously stolen a Honda Beat in Gresik and used the vehicle to facilitate further robberies.
In North Sumatra’s Padang Lawas district, investigators seized 31 motorcycles from a resident’s yard in the village of Pasar Latong, suspecting they were the product of a broader penadahan (fencing) operation. The seized fleet comprised mainly Honda models along with a few Yamaha and Suzuki bikes. The case is being pursued under Article 591 of the Indonesian Criminal Code.
Denpasar police in Bali apprehended a 30‑year‑old suspect, Wahyudin, alleged to be a specialist in motorcycle theft. He is accused of stealing a Yamaha Nmax from a guesthouse in East Denpasar and moving it to a work site in Tibubeneng. The operation spanned three locations on the island.
In East Java’s Ngawi regency, a 20‑year‑old repeat offender, identified only as BDA, was captured after a robbery at a local shop and a Brilink payment‑terminal agency. The suspect had fled to Kalimantan before being tracked down and arrested at his home.
Other crime reports include a 61‑year‑old man arrested in Gowa for alleged sexual assault, and a member of the Indonesian armed forces (named SN) suspected of causing the death of a 30‑year‑old youth in a night‑club in the Riau Islands. Additionally, the West Java police chief reminded the public not to take the law into their own hands during anti‑robbery operations.
