Indonesian police debunk motorbike theft hoax in Denpasar and arrest suspect in Surabaya pawn case

Police in Denpasar investigated a viral video that claimed a motorbike was stolen in the Taman Pancing area on June 17. After checking the site, officers found no such incident and determined the footage actually showed a theft in Citra Raya, Tangerang. The police declared the claim a hoax and urged the public to verify information before sharing.

In Surabaya, a 47‑year‑old laborer, Supardi, was detained after he allegedly took a friend’s Honda Vario 125 motorbike under the pretext of needing it for work and then pawned the vehicle to raise money for personal debts. The victim reported the theft, and police arrested Supardi, who is now in custody while investigators continue to locate the motorbike.
