Indonesian police seize motorcycles with noisy exhausts in regional raids

Indonesian police forces in Tasikmalaya and Surakarta have conducted operations to seize motorcycles equipped with noisy, non-standard exhausts (knalpot brong) following widespread public complaints.

In Tasikmalaya, a joint operation involving the local police, TNI, and Satpol PP targeted several strategic locations and border areas to curb noise disturbances and prevent street crime. Authorities seized 23 motorcycles during the raid. The operation aimed to address community concerns regarding youth convoys that disturb the peace at night.

In Surakarta, Polresta Surakarta seized 47 motorcycles during a midnight operation targeting illegal street racing. Officials noted that the noise from these exhausts has significantly disturbed residents and patients in nearby hospitals. To reclaim their vehicles, riders are required to replace the illegal exhausts with standard ones and pay fines through the legal process.
