Indonesian prison raids target narcotics and illegal devices
Joint security operations were conducted at correctional facilities in Tarakan and Karawang, Indonesia, to combat drug trafficking and illegal communication devices. These raids align with the 15 Acceleration Programs initiated by the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Affairs, Agus Andrianto, which focus on eradicating narcotics and fraud within prisons.
In Tarakan, a combined force including Brimob Polda Kaltara, the local police, military (Kodim 0907/Trk), and the National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) inspected residential blocks. The operation resulted in no findings of narcotics or mobile phones, and urine tests conducted on inmates returned negative results for drug use.
In Karawang, 73 personnel from various agencies, including Brimob Polda Jabar and BNNK Karawang, carried out a large-scale inspection. While no drugs or mobile phones were discovered, officers seized several prohibited items deemed potential security risks, such as hammers, nails, improvised water heaters, and various cables.
