Indonesia launches nationwide 2026 Economic Census
Indonesia began field data collection for the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026) on 15 June, with simultaneous operations across the country. The launch was staged in Southeast Sulawesi, where Deputy Head of BPS Sonny Harmadi highlighted the expanded scope that now includes agriculture, forestry and fisheries, and emphasized the two‑and‑a‑half‑month collection window ending 31 August.
Local officials in several regions, such as Medan Mayor Rico Waas, Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto, Sragen Regent Sigit Pamungkas and Selayar Regent Natsir Ali, welcomed BPS teams and urged residents to provide accurate, complete information. “Sensus ekonomi ini mencakup seluruh masyarakat,” Waas said, stressing data confidentiality. Pamungkas called the census “fondasi penting” for future economic policy.
The campaign promotes the “TIR” movement – Terima (welcome census officers), Isi (fill in data accurately), Rahasia (ensure confidentiality). Over 2 600 census workers are deployed nationwide to record business activities and household economic data, aiming to produce reliable statistics for government planning and development programs.
