Indonesian regencies evaluate part-time PPPK contract extensions

Local governments in Indonesia are conducting performance evaluations for part-time Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK Paruh Waktu) as their current contracts approach expiration.

In Kepahiang Regency, officials are reviewing approximately 691 part-time PPPK staff distributed across 29 regional apparatus organizations (OPD). Regional Secretary Hartono stated that evaluations are being used to determine which employees will receive contract extensions. Performance, including attendance and work quality, is a key factor in these decisions.

In Sragen Regency, Bupati Sigit Pamungkas has confirmed the proposal to extend contracts for 2,107 part-time PPPK employees. The current contract period is set to end on September 30, 2026, with the next term proposed to run from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. The number of employees decreased from an initial 2,130 due to retirement, resignation, death, or dismissal for poor performance. The Bupati noted that while extensions are not automatic and depend on discipline and behavior, the general evaluation results for the current group have been positive.
