Indonesian regencies implement housing repair programs

Local governments in Indonesia are implementing housing assistance programs to address unfit living conditions. In Lebak Regency, the government has completed repairs on 262 out of a target 267 unfit houses for 2026. Each unit receives Rp20 million in stimulus funding. Despite this progress, officials note a significant challenge, with data indicating 88,000 unfit houses remain in the regency, a figure that has increased significantly since 2016.

In Grobogan Regency, 98 houses are currently being targeted for repair through local government funds, with each recipient receiving Rp20 million. This local initiative is supplemented by provincial and central government programs, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in Grobogan to 1,356 for 2026. However, a substantial housing backlog remains in the region, with over 85,000 households living in homes that do not meet standard living requirements.
