Indonesian regional police increase fuel and LPG distribution oversight

Police departments in Lampung and West Sulawesi are intensifying efforts to monitor the distribution of fuel (BBM) and LPG to prevent shortages and illegal activities.

In Lampung, the regional police (Polda Lampung) held a cross-sectoral coordination meeting involving the provincial government to address fuel scarcity and drug trafficking. The meeting aimed to strengthen law enforcement and supervision regarding energy availability.

In West Sulawesi, Polda Sulbar and Pertamina Patra Niaga have strengthened coordination to ensure energy distribution is orderly and reaches the intended targets. Discussions between the West Sulawesi Police Chief and Pertamina officials focused on evaluating fuel station mechanisms, monitoring diesel distribution, and addressing potential hoarding. Authorities are also considering measures such as odd-even systems and refueling restrictions to manage supply. Recent monitoring indicates that queues at several gas stations in West Sulawesi have begun to decrease.
