Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah Move Toward Dialogue Over Child Custody

After weeks of public disputes over alimony and parental access, former spouses Ruben Onsu and former Cherrybelle member Sarwendah have taken steps toward a mediated discussion. Sarwendah’s legal team sent a formal letter to Ruben’s lawyer, Minola Sebayang, proposing a private meeting—potentially in July—once Ruben returns from his umrah pilgrimage. Ruben confirmed he has coordinated with his counsel and welcomes the invitation, emphasizing that his sole priority is to spend quality time with his three children without third‑party interference.

The couple’s conflict, which escalated after Ruben halted a monthly Rp200‑225 million child support payment, has centered on the right of the children to see both parents and on transparency of the funds’ use. Both parties have expressed a willingness to resolve the matter through dialogue rather than continued public confrontation. Fellow former Cherrybelle member Anisa Rahma publicly voiced support for Sarwendah, urging a swift and amicable solution. Meanwhile, singer‑turned‑social‑media personality Betrand Peto used Instagram to accuse Sarwendah’s family of antagonising Ruben, calling for an end to the hostility.

Ruben has opted to delegate public statements to his legal team, stating, “It’s all handed over to the lawyer. Let it run,” and avoids engagement with online criticism. The evolving situation remains focused on securing a stable arrangement for the children while reducing media‑fuelled conflict.
