Indonesian technical staff protest DPR priority for teachers and healthcare workers

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has designated teachers and healthcare workers as the priority for Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) budget allocations in 2027. This decision follows a plenary meeting held on September 29, 2026, which established that the 2027 state budget (APBN) will specifically cover salaries for part-time PPPK in the education and health sectors.

This prioritization has sparked significant disappointment among technical staff and educational support personnel (tendik), who feel excluded from the current resolution plans. Fadlun Abdillah, Chairman of the Aliansi Merah Putih (AMP), expressed that these groups feel hit hard by the decision, noting that the outcome appears to favor only teachers and medical workers.

The dissatisfaction stems from previous discussions involving ten PPPK organizations and DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. The groups had previously raised demands including the conversion of all part-time PPPK to full-time status across all job categories in 2026, and the appointment of all PPPK to Civil Servant (PNS) status by 2027 without age restrictions.
