Indonesian university student groups launch community empowerment programs in Japan and Taruman villages
Student teams from the Program Penguatan Kapasitas Organisasi Kemahasiswaan (PPK Ormawa) have inaugurated two village‑level empowerment initiatives in Indonesia. At Desa Japan in Kudus, the SEC Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Muria Kudus formalised the Japan Makmur Sejahtera (JAPAMAS) institution to coordinate sustainable development, local entrepreneurship and ongoing support after the student program ends. The launch involved village officials, faculty mentors and community members, emphasizing long‑term collaboration.
In Grobogan’s Desa Taruman, the IMM Ahmad Dahlan team from Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang completed the DIGITARUM (Digital Taruman) program. Over several weeks, students trained local micro‑enterprises in creating digital shop accounts on TikTok Shop and Shopee, producing marketing content, and conducting a live Shopee sales event. The initiative aims to boost digital literacy and market access for village UMKM, with continued mentorship envisioned.
