Indonesia’s 2026 Hajj evaluation calls for better health care and disability services

Amirul Hajj Indonesia presented an evaluation of the 2026 Hajj to the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, highlighting several operational issues. The health service chain through the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic (KKHI) was described as costly and lengthy, requiring pilgrims to pass through satellite clinics before referral to KKHI and then back to Saudi partner hospitals for advanced care. The report also flagged limited tent capacity in Mina, transport delays, and the need for new strategies to accommodate the growing number of Indonesian pilgrims.

The Association of Blind Muslims in Indonesia (ITMI) praised the 2026 pilgrimage for being more accessible to visually impaired pilgrims, citing supportive staff and improved facilities. ITMI highlighted the recent issuance of Ministerial Regulation No. 28/2025, which strengthens protection and services for people with disabilities, and urged rapid implementation and widespread awareness of the new rules.

Both groups urged the Ministry to act on these findings to enhance medical response, accommodation, and inclusive services for future pilgrimages.
