Indonesia's 645 Remote Nutrition Service Units Await Operational Clearance

The Association of Food and Nutrition Indonesia in Remote Areas (APGI 3T) says that 645 Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) built in the country's far‑flung 3T regions have completed construction, appraisal, verification, virtual‑account setup, and appointment of heads, yet they have not received operational approval from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

APGI 3T’s chair, Herwil Junaidi Harefa, notes that investors and managers funded the facilities privately or via loans, amounting to roughly Rp 1 trillion, without using state budgets. He stresses that the units were created to extend the free nutritious‑meal program to children in remote areas, not to commercialise the sites. The association is urging BGN to grant operational certainty so the program’s benefits can reach those communities.

The lack of clearance has prompted protests by investors and facility managers, who claim they have fulfilled all technical and administrative requirements but remain in limbo, jeopardising the delivery of free nutritious meals to children in Indonesia’s most isolated regions.
