Indonesia's Airlangga Hartarto meets China's Trade Minister Wang Wentao

Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto held a press conference in Shanghai after meeting China’s Trade Minister Wang Wentao. The two officials reviewed a memorandum of understanding that includes a "two‑countries twin park" scheme and explored ways to boost industrial development in Batam and other special economic zones.

Hartarto highlighted that bilateral trade between Indonesia and China is projected to reach US$167.5 billion in 2025, with combined Indonesia‑China‑Hong Kong trade of about US$173 billion. He also noted that Chinese and Hong Kong investments in Indonesia total roughly US$18 billion, citing a US$2.5 billion investment under the MoU. The meeting was followed by talks with Chinese tech firms Huawei and ByteDance, and a scheduled discussion with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi the next day.
