Indonesia's Attorney General Halts Data Collection for Free Meal Program
The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) issued circular letter No. B‑3256/F.2/Fd.2/07/2026 on 10 July 2026, signed by Director of Special Crimes Division Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, directing all regional prosecutors to cease gathering data and statements related to the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) free‑meal program. The order follows an earlier circular (No. B‑2668/F.2/Fd.2/06/2026, 15 June 2026) that required prosecutors to inventory and report issues in the MBG rollout. Kejagung said the data‑collection period had ended and the halt is needed to prevent misuse. Regional prosecutors in Central Java clarified that their activities were limited to non‑coercive data gathering at SPPG sites, with no raids or arrests.
