Indonesia's Badan Gizi Nasional reviews stalled MBG kitchens and motor procurement

The National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional, BGN) has launched a comprehensive evaluation and restructuring of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program after investors and partner service units protested that dozens of kitchens, built with billions of rupiah in private investment, remain non‑operational. New BGN head Nanik S Deyang is focusing on correcting governance, allocation and operational management of the facilities, while addressing concerns from partners in remote regions.

Separately, the agency’s procurement of 21,801 electric motorcycles – worth roughly Rp 1.03 trillion and fully paid for under the previous administration – is under scrutiny following a corruption investigation involving former head Dadan Hindayana. Chief of Staff to the President Dudung Abdurachman confirmed the vehicles are state assets and may be redirected to other government programs, noting many are still in assembly despite payment.

Both issues are linked to the broader corruption probe and the government's effort to ensure accountability and proper use of public and private funds in the MBG initiative.
