Indonesia's Baznas and Ministry of Labor Expand Job Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities

Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (Baznas) RI and the Ministry of Labour (Kemnaker) have launched a joint programme to increase training, mentorship and job placement for people with disabilities across Indonesia. Baznas leader Mokhamad Mahdum called for a ratified MoU with the ministry and urged all provincial, city and district Baznas offices to cooperate with local labour agencies. The initiative aligns with Law No. 8/2016 on disability rights and aims to create an inclusive employment ecosystem.

In Boyolali, Baznas allocated Rp250 million to support 25 disabled beneficiaries, covering skill training, intensive guidance and placement matching. Minister Yassierli praised the collaboration as a key step in broadening access to decent work for disabled citizens and noted additional budget provisions for training programmes.

The programme targets nationwide rollout, leveraging zakat, infak and sadaqah funds to sustain inclusive job creation.
