Indonesia's Baznas delivers relief after Kemayoran fire
A major fire struck the densely populated Kemayoran district of Jakarta on the night of 1 June, destroying homes and displacing residents. The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) quickly deployed its Disaster Response Team, set up a temporary health clinic, and provided ready‑to‑eat meals to evacuees.
Following the initial emergency response, Baznas continued assistance by installing temporary lighting installations and sustaining food distribution to support the recovery of affected families. Baznas head Idy Muzayyad emphasized that the aid, funded by zakat, infak and sadaqah, aims to meet basic needs such as health care, nutrition and safe illumination for survivors while monitoring conditions on the ground.
