Indonesia's BAZNAS hands over $5 billion aid to Palestinians amid Gaza blockade

The Indonesian National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) transferred 5 billion rupiah in humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta, acting on a mandate from Indonesian donors. The aid, intended for Gaza residents affected by the ongoing conflict and blockade, includes food, medicines and medical supplies.

Palestinian Ambassador Abdalfatah A. K. Al‑Sattari thanked Indonesia for its “extraordinary solidarity,” noting the safe return of Indonesian volunteers from the Freedom Flotilla and expressing hope for future prayers at Al‑Aqsa Mosque. BAZNAS chief Sodik Mudjahid said the agency has mobilised a total of 150 billion rupiah for Palestine since the conflict escalated, with 36 billion rupiah delivered in the past three months, and is preparing a strategic reserve to fund infrastructure and reconstruction in Gaza. Indonesian Foreign Ministry official Ahrul Tsani confirmed continued cooperation between the ministry and BAZNAS in channeling humanitarian aid through diplomatic and UN channels.
