Indonesia's BAZNAS rolls out zakat literacy program and Rp1.4 trillion collection target

The National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Indonesia is partnering with the Ministry of Religious Affairs to mobilise roughly 25,000 civil servants in the Islamic Religious Extension Workers Association (IPARI) as zakat‑literacy officers. Idy Muzayyad said the collaboration will "utilise IPARI members as the front line to educate the public on zakat, infak and sedekah, especially for newly‑married couples" and will expand to other ministry directorates.

BAZNAS also announced an ambitious financial plan to increase its managed funds by 62 times, seeking to reach a Rp1.4 trillion target by 2026. Chairman Sodik Mudjahid told a DPR hearing that the agency needs "prayer and support" to achieve the goal, which will be financed through zakat, infak, sedekah, CSR, and other religious‑social funds, alongside an APBN allocation of Rp22.29 billion for salaries, operations and office maintenance. He added that the agency aims to "transform its work toward a far more professional and effective direction."
