Indonesia's BMKG issues rain warnings for West Sumatra and drought alert for Bima in West Nusa Tenggara

The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) issued a forecast for Sumatra Barat predicting moderate to heavy rain in the South Coast, Dharmasraya and surrounding districts from 10‑12 June 2026, with lighter showers expected in several other regencies. Residents were urged to stay vigilant, especially in areas where rainfall could reach heavy intensity.

Separately, BMKG placed Kabupaten Bima in Nusa Tenggara Barat under a drought‑alert status as El Niño intensified, noting up to 40 consecutive dry days in the Donggo sub‑district. The agency also listed additional districts in Bima, Dompu and Sumbawa as being on drought watch and warned of heightened fire risk. Light rainfall chances were forecast for parts of Lombok and Sumbawa later in June.
