Indonesia's BNPP Uses 2026 Border Index to Speed Development of 22 Border Areas

The Badan Nasional Pengelola Perbatasan (BNPP) announced that the 2026 Index of Border Area Management (IPKP) recorded an average score of 0.58, classified as "C" and close to the national target of 0.60. The assessment covered 11 sea and 11 land border growth centers (PPKP).

BNPP urged all ministries and partner agencies to adopt the IPKP recommendations as the basis for integrated priority programs, citing the Red‑White Fishermen Village initiative of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries as a model. The agency also proposed that the IPKP results be highlighted in President Prabowo Subianto's state address on 16 August, underscoring the government's commitment to accelerate infrastructure, basic services and sustainable community empowerment in the border regions.
