Indonesia's BPS Trains Thousands for 2026 Economic Census in Pekalongan and Rembang

On 8 June 2026, Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) in Pekalongan opened a training programme for the second wave of field officers for the 2026 Economic Census. The event involved 251 participants – 30 supervisors and 221 enumerators – and covered census concepts, methodology, digital data‑collection tools, interview techniques and field simulations. Officials said the training aims to ensure consistent, high‑quality data that will guide national and local economic policies and improve public welfare.

Two days later, in the regency of Rembang, BPS and the local government conducted a hybrid training for the third wave, preparing 712 enumerators for door‑to‑door digital surveying of all business premises, including online enterprises. The training emphasized honesty, accuracy and respect for respondents. Authorities highlighted that reliable census data will capture the growing digital economy and serve as a basis for regional development planning.
