Indonesia's BRI and Government Launch Programs to Strengthen UMKM

Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) expanded its UMKM empowerment through the Rumah BUMN initiative, offering training, digital‑marketing support, financing and market access to small firms. IDEacraft, a home‑decor business from Semarang founded in 2019 with modest capital, credits BRI’s programs—including BRIncubator, BRI UMKM EXPO, BRImo, QRIS and KUR loans—for scaling production and reaching customers across Central Java.

At the same time, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises held the Festival Kemudahan dan Pelindungan Usaha Mikro 2026, a ten‑city tour beginning in Balikpapan that gathered about 1,000 micro‑entrepreneurs. The festival bundles licensing assistance, certification, legal protection and financing—both KUR and non‑KUR—to address the fact that roughly 77 % of Indonesian UMKM lack formal legal status. Minister Maman Abdurrahman and East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas'ud emphasized the effort to formalise and upscale UMKM as a driver of regional economic growth.
