Indonesia's BRIN partners with Creative Economy Ministry, pushes future tech for mining

Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Ministry of Creative Economy and Culture (Bekraf) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Jakarta on 28 July. Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya and BRIN head Arif Satria outlined four pillars – research development, funding facilitation, intellectual‑property support and cultural‑heritage protection – to implement the 2026‑2045 Creative Economy Master Plan and boost the sector’s competitiveness.

At the same time, BRIN head Arif Satria addressed the fifth BRIN Goes To Industry forum, urging the mining sector to adopt long‑term, future‑oriented technologies. He stressed the need for technology forecasting up to 2035‑2040, using AI and global trend analysis, to avoid investing in facilities that may become obsolete soon. Both initiatives aim to strengthen Indonesia’s research‑driven innovation ecosystem and improve its global economic standing.
