Indonesia's BMKG issues July 16 regional weather forecasts
Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released weather forecasts for Thursday, 16 July 2026 covering multiple provinces.
In Maluku, most districts are expected to be sunny and partly cloudy, with only the Aru Islands seeing light rain. Bengkulu Tengah is forecast to have light rain throughout its districts after a clear morning. Papua Barat Daya will see a mix of conditions: clear skies in Raja Ampat, partly cloudy weather in Sorong and Maybrat, and cloudy skies in Tambrauw.
Across Sumatra, the forecast is largely sunny and partly cloudy, with occasional light rain in isolated areas. The BMKG office in Medan warned Sumatra Utara of light rain that could make roads slick and visibility poor, noting a higher chance of moderate rain near Batubara.
In East Java's Malang region, BMKG predicts clear, hot conditions during the day, shifting to cloudiness and dense fog in the evening, with temperatures ranging from 18 °C to 28 °C. The agency advises the public to monitor updates as conditions may change.
