Indonesia's DPR Advances Asset Seizure Bill While Advocates Submit New Law Draft

The House of Representatives (DPR) confirmed that the draft Asset Seizure Bill remains in the 2026 National Legislative Program (Prolegnas) priority list, refuting social‑media claims that the bill had been rejected. Deputy Chair of the Legislative Bureau, Martin Manurung, and DPR Vice‑Chair Sari Yuliati both emphasized that the bill, prepared by Commission III, is still scheduled for discussion and that public input is being gathered.

Separately, the Coalition of Advocates handed over a draft Advocate Law to the Deputy Minister of Law and the DPR Chairman Dr. Bob Hasan. The government acknowledged receipt and pledged to consider the proposals, aiming to modernise the legal profession and enhance the role of advocates in the justice system. Advocates highlighted the goal of achieving parity with other law‑enforcement officials.
