Indonesia's DPR pushes to finish Asset Seizure Bill in 2026

Deputy Chairman of Indonesia's House of Representatives, Saan Mustopa, said the legislature will work to complete the draft of the Asset Seizure Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) within the current year, aligning with its 2026 legislative priority. He rejected circulating rumors that the DPR had rejected the bill, confirming it remains on the National Legislation Program list.

The bill, overseen by Commission III, aims to establish a legal framework for confiscating assets linked to corruption—a matter not previously covered by Indonesian law. Commission III is actively gathering public input through hearings and forums, involving stakeholders such as legal professionals, academics, and civil society groups, to refine the draft before it proceeds further.
