Indonesia’s Finance Minister Purbaya and Bank Indonesia Boost Fiscal‑Monetary Coordination to Stabilize Rupiah
Indonesia’s Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa and Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo met with Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad to strengthen fiscal‑monetary coordination. The officials agreed on two steps: (1) raise the attractiveness of domestic financial yields to draw foreign capital inflows, and (2) keep liquidity ample in the money market and banking sector by leaving government cash with Bank Indonesia and increasing the remuneration the central bank pays the treasury. Both sides said the measures aim to stabilise the rupiah’s exchange rate and support national economic growth.
During the same period, Finance Minister Purbaya inspected the Tanjung Priok port, where about 2,500‑3,000 shipping containers were still back‑logged, threatening the flow of industrial inputs. He noted that some importers delayed cargo collection to avoid storage fees, and urged faster clearance to keep logistics smooth as the economy expands.
