Indonesia Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa Advances Halal Gelatin Plan, JHT Tax Reform Talks, and KPK Budget Appeal

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said Indonesia will develop a domestic halal gelatin industry to replace imports, aiming to boost national capacity and strengthen the country's role in the global halal supply chain. He noted that current imports run into hundreds of tons and that the government will assess whether local producers can meet demand.

In a separate meeting, President’s Special Adviser on Labour, Said Iqbal, presented four proposals to Purbaya to overhaul the tax treatment of the Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT) retirement savings. The advisers urged a 0% tax rate on JHT withdrawals, the removal of progressive tax brackets for repeated claims, and an increase of the tax‑free threshold from the current Rp 50 million to a level reflecting current gold prices.

Later, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto visited the Finance Ministry to request additional budget funding for new equipment and operational needs for the anti‑corruption agency. The ministry indicated that the request would be reviewed, though no specific amount was disclosed.
