Indonesia's football federation bans fans for harassing national player Beckham Putra

After Indonesia defeated Mozambique 1‑0 at Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno stadium on 9 June 2026, national team defender Beckham Putra was subjected to verbal abuse and intimidation by a group of supporters. Putra, who entered as a late substitute, said the criticism would not affect his commitment to the Garuda, stating, "I always give 100 percent or more for Indonesia. Whatever they say, it won’t change my commitment."

The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) responded by launching a formal investigation, reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. PSSI Secretary‑General Yunus Nusi announced that offending supporters could be barred from attending future Indonesia matches and that their identities might be publicly displayed around stadiums as a deterrent. The federation emphasized the need to separate club rivalries from national‑team support and to protect players' psychological well‑being.
