Indonesia tourism shifts to new regions as clear weather boosts Central Java sites

The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) forecast mostly clear skies across Central Java's historic attractions for 7‑8 July 2026, with temperatures ranging from the high teens to mid‑30 °C at sites such as Borobudur, Lawang Sewu, Saloka Park and the Gedong Songo temple complex. Officials advised visitors to protect against heat and stay hydrated.

At the same time, foreign travelers are increasingly exploring destinations beyond Bali. Airbnb data shows rising interest in Samosir (Lake Toba), Lombok Tengah and Kampar, where accommodations are concentrated near lakes, surf spots and golf courses.
