The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has uncovered about six million duplicate beneficiary records in the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) programme, prompting a nationwide data‑validation effort. The agency also announced the activation of 114 new SPPG kitchens next week in Papua, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Maluku, Maluku Utara and Nias, prioritising areas with high stunting rates.

BGN tightened operational standards, requiring that MBG food be consumed within four hours of receipt and linking all kitchen CCTV feeds to a central monitoring system. It also dismissed 66 kitchen heads for indiscipline, including prolonged absence and alleged fraud. In Papua, a food‑poisoning incident affecting hundreds of students was traced to tempe bacem cooked too early, leading to a temporary suspension of the responsible kitchen.

A separate inspection flagged 950 kitchens as potentially unhygienic, warning of permanent closure if sanitation standards are not met. The programme’s budget reached 101.1 trillion rupiah in the first half of 2026, covering 63.13 million beneficiaries.
