GIIAS 2026 showcases surge of electric vehicle launches in Indonesia
The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 drew dozens of manufacturers unveiling new electric and plug‑in‑hybrid models. Wuling introduced the Aira EV city car, while Jetour launched the T2 i‑DM SUV, claiming a combined range of over 1,200 km. Chinese automaker Changan debuted the Nevo Q05 electric SUV with a 462 km NEDC range and pricing between Rp 309 million and Rp 359 million. Hyundai displayed a seven‑seat EV SUV prototype, the Neira, and said it will be produced locally. DFSK revealed the right‑hand‑drive E5 Plus six‑seat plug‑in hybrid SUV, already receiving more than 1,200 pre‑orders. GAC Indonesia offered special prices for three EV models and pledged delivery within two days for Jakarta‑area buyers. VinFast presented its “Drive Worry Free” programme alongside a portfolio of VF‑series EVs. Other participants, including Toyota, Citroën and the Indonesian government, highlighted local‑content targets and fast‑charging capabilities. The launch wave coincides with Indonesia’s electric‑vehicle fleet passing 236 000 units, accounting for 16 % of the national automotive market and 51 % of the city‑car segment.
