Indonesia proposes Rp4 trillion down payment and keeps 60:40 cost‑share for 2027 Hajj

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has asked the House’s Commission VIII to approve a down‑payment (DP) of roughly Rp4 trillion (about 858 million Saudi riyals) to start securing tents, visas and other services for the 2027 Hajj season. The amount will be treated as a reduction of the overall Hajj fund request and will be managed through the Hajj Finance Management Agency (BPKH).

Parliament approved the DP, emphasizing that the early payment should improve tent quality, accommodation and transport for the millions of Indonesian pilgrims expected at Arafah, Muzdalifah and Mina. At the same time, the government plans to retain the 60:40 financing scheme for 2027 – 60 % of costs covered by benefits from the Hajj fund and 40 % paid by pilgrims – to keep the fee affordable despite rising service charges in Saudi Arabia.

The cost of the 2027 Hajj has not yet been fixed; the government says the fee is still under evaluation and no increase has been announced. Officials note that Saudi changes to the Masyaʿir service packages could raise service costs, and that the new tent specifications include fire‑resistant panels and improved ventilation.

Separate reports note that 34 Indonesian pilgrims from the 2026 Hajj remain in Saudi hospitals for treatment, and that more than 3,500 Indonesians fell victim to illegal Hajj‑related scams, losing around Rp116.7 billion, prompting calls for stronger protective measures.
