Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Return Home, Over 120,000 Arrive as Government Urges Continued Values

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) reported that more than 120,000 Indonesian pilgrims have been repatriated from Saudi Arabia as of mid‑June 2026. By 18 June, 55 % of the total quota had arrived, rising to 62 % (127,709 people) by 20 June, with 121 000 pilgrims now back on Indonesian soil.

Kemenhaj officials reminded returning pilgrims to uphold the spiritual values learned during Hajj—patience, discipline, solidarity—and to apply them in family and community life. They also stressed strict compliance with travel rules, including the prohibition of carrying Zamzam water in luggage.

Specific return points included Palembang’s Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II airport, where 12 flight groups (kloter) delivered 5,303 pilgrims, and the main Saudi embarkation points of Jeddah and Madinah, which handled hundreds of thousands of pilgrims across 329 groups. Saudi authorities provided free wheelchair loans at the Nabawi Mosque to assist elderly or mobility‑limited pilgrims.

The ministry praised the orderly conduct of pilgrims and the cooperation of Saudi officials, noting that the orderly return supports both safety and the continued practice of Hajj‑derived virtues in Indonesia.
