Indonesia's housing minister flags third‑party control of state land and announces Meikarta land donation

Indonesia's Minister of Housing and Settlement (PKP), Maruarar Sirait (Ara), said a large portion of state‑owned land is currently controlled by third parties, describing it as a heavy challenge for the government's effort to provide affordable housing. He called for coordinated action among ministries and agencies to reclaim and better manage these assets.

Sirait also announced that Lippo Cikarang will donate 30 hectares of land in Meikarta, Bekasi, to the state. The land will be managed by the Investment Management Agency (Danantara) without tax burden and is intended to support the presidential “3 million house” program for low‑income families. Construction is slated to begin with land clearing in February 2026, a groundbreaking in March 2026, structural work from August 2026, and completion expected in August 2028, delivering around 141 000 housing units across three sites.
